From 3 to 7 July Lake Bled in Slovenia hosted nearly 200 scholars and practitioners in public relations from all over the world. The specialty of BledCom 2002 was that in first time of its 9-year history it was organized together with the Annual Congress of the European Public Relations Education and Research Association (EUPRERA), and the Summer Gathering of The European Association of Public Relations Students (CERP Students). Besides, representatives of national public relations associations also had one of their regular semi-annual meetings of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management within the Bled symposium. More than 30 speakers from 18 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Singapore, South Africa, Canada, the USA, Denmark, the UK, etc. presented their views on the Status of Public Relations Knowledge in Europe and Around the World. The theme of BledCom 2002 was prompted by the European Public Relations Body of Knowledge (EBOK) project.
The winner of the 2002 European Public Relations Educational Jos Willems Award, Laura Illia from the University of Lugano, Switzerland, presented her master thesis “Cyberactivism and public relations strategy: new dynamics and relationship rules”.
