Valérie Carayol Professor, Dr.
University of Bordeaux ISIC, Institute for Information and Communication sciences France
- Full Professor in Information and Communication sciences.
- Director of the research group MICA (Mediation, information, communication, arts).
- Director of the publication of the French academic review Communication & Organisation.
Why are you applying for this role?
I started to participate actively to Euprera activities in the early 2000s. I contributed with Inger Jensen to the scientific committees of Euprera Congresses for several years (enlarged board) and have participated in numerous conferences. I would like, if you give me the opportunity to take on responsibilities within EUPRERA:
- To promote a policy for scientific excellence for the association;
- To promote research topics for our congress meeting societal concerns and social demands coming from civil society, governments or private companies;
- To enable the development of collective publishing projects to ensure greater visibility of the association, including a reflection on open archives for Euprera.
I would be very honoured to be the first French person to take on responsibilities as director or president elect for Euprera. I think it could also give the opportunity to the French research community in organizational communication and PR research to join the association and the European dynamic we have built.

Julia Jahansoozi Lecturer
University of Stirling Department of Film, Media & Journalism UK
- Director of MSc Public Communications Management
- Curriculum development and teaching on postgraduate and undergraduate programmes
- Development of international partnerships (both research and education)
- Researching in the area of public relations as a member of the Stirling Media Research Institute (70% of research ranked as world leading/internationally excellent)
- Editorial Advisor: Journal of Communications Management
Why are you apllying for this role?
I've had the pleasure and honor of being involved with Euprera since 2002 when co-opted onto the Board. I've actively led activities ranging from the e-newsletter, Prime liaison, Congress organization, and currently participate as an Executive Director, in Scientific Committees, and also in two Euprera projects.
If elected I want to deepen member engagement and provide leadership in this direction starting with soliciting members' views on Euprera, and continue building the external network. Developing links and partnerships with other international and European institutions where mutual interests and collaborations serve our strategy will broaden the Euprera base, increasing its relevance to public policy. Euprera's stated aim is to stimulate and promote innovative knowledge and practices of public relations education and research in Europe, and a key part of doing this is 'growing' it via a supportive/mentoring framework, encouraging our 'new academics', and by a research enabling framework where research 'seed money' is available.
